She was born in Germany in 1978. For the past few years, she has been living and working in St. Petersburg, Russia. Due to her parents' frequent relocations for work, her childhood was spent in various places — from small villages to large cities, in different regions and countries. Her grandmother was an agronomist who worked at the botanical garden in Chernihiv, Ukraine, where Marina spent much of her childhood.
"I remember visiting my grandmother at work as a child and strolling through beautiful alleys among rose, wild rose, and acacia bushes, while incredibly beautiful flowers bloomed in the flowerbeds, each one astonishing in its unique shape and color. I walked and admired them, inhaling all the scents and absorbing the beauty with my eyes," recalls the fine art photographer.
Her work is dedicated to the delicate and astonishing beauty that often goes unnoticed and lies beneath the surface. She captures the beauty of wildflowers, winter-sleeping plants, dry and withering blooms, and thoughtfully arranged compositions. These are wild plants found in secluded corners of parks and urban green spaces — flora that many would simply dismiss as insignificant. Yet to her, each plant and every flower is a treasure, carrying stories from the past, speaking of the present, and celebrating an imagined future. Her love of nature and flowers, especially wildflowers, traces back to her childhood.
Her path into photography began only a few years ago, when she started experimenting with mobile photography, exploring light, texture, and natural forms. With the advent of smartphone cameras, she began taking many photos for herself and for the family archive. After mastering the tools and techniques, she continues to work exclusively with mobile photography. All of her work is created using a phone. Today, photography remains a hobby for her, while her primary profession is not connected to the arts or creative work. As a photographic artist, she focuses on portrait photography of flowers, bouquets, landscapes, and multiple exposures with collages. Recently, she has developed an interest in architecture, modern photography, and experiments with various styles.
